Why CBD?
CBD is the scientific abbreviation of cannabidiol, a chemical compound predominantly found in the cannabis sativa plant. It is a naturally occurring substance the medicinal effects of which have been explored for thousands of years. Historical records document its first uses as a treatment around 2700 BC by the Emperors of ancient China. We can see its historical and current use as one of the holy medicines of India. Ancient Egyptian medical scrolls discovered at dig sites reveal a long and vibrant tradition of treatment. By 1000 AD, CBD even reached European shores where it was in use as a folk medicine to treat symptoms of some illnesses.
It was not until the 1940s however, that CBD was isolated from the psychoactive qualities of the cannabis plant. While CBD is an essential component of medical marijuana, modern CBD is actually derived from the hemp plant, which is marijuanas cousin and as such is devoid of the psychoactive delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) ingredient of marijuana.. According to the World Health Organization, “…in humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…” To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.
In contemporary times, CBD is widely used as a treatment for anxiety, insomnia, chronic pain and inflammation. The European Journal of Pain revealed that skin application of CBD could help treat the pain and inflammation symptoms of arthritis. Other studies have demonstrated CBD’s ability to inhibit inflammatory and neuropathic pain, some of the most difficult types of chronic pain to address.

I am so impressed with the variety of products that are available at CBD Connect. As I grow older its comforting to know there are natural products that I can use without the worry of any chemicals.
